Our World Mission Team has the opportunity to
provide information to the church community about work which is being
carried out in both Australia and many other countries. Seven months of
the year there is a monthly mission offering for a particular project
which is published to the church community by both a power point
segment or video presentation and if possible a relevant speaker on the
particular project. The programs we support vary between one of the 31
sites supported by the Uniting Church throughout the world, or a
program which one of the team members is aware of.
At Christmas time we support the Tear fund. May is
mission month and throughout this month we work towards a special
project, informing the church community weekly on particular aspects of
the project. The church community is very supportive of these monthly
mission offerings. A number of our community, from recently graduated
secondary school students to over 60's have visited and worked at a
variety of jobs in many different countries for varying lengths of
time. We are able to support these people both in prayer and
financially. The church community also annually supports someone from
the Protestant Christian Church in Bali to attend Torrens Valley TAFE
to attend ESL classes. Families have the opportunity to enrich their
lives by having the student live with them for a period of time during
the term.
