Hope Valley Uniting Church
understands itself as a church of small groups. We can grow larger and
more effective as the Body of Christ as we meet in smaller numbers. In
the larger church people can feel lost unless they belong to a smaller
group for mutual support, excellent learning and practical
opportunities to be in ministry.
Jesus used a small group model in growing his disciples. The same
paradigm of groups meeting in homes was used in the spread of the
gospel and the growth of the early church.
Small group life is a vital ministry where:
- faith is nurtured
- authentic Christian lifestyle
is modelled
- love in action takes place
among the members and in reaching others
- people are empowered and
encouraged to use their gifts and develop their ministries
- new Christians are sought,
invited and enfolded as they respond to the gospel
- leaders are identified,
equipped and empowered.
At Hope Valley we have a
variety of groups that are designed to meet people’s needs.
These include adult groups, women’s groups, prayer groups,
family groups, young adult groups and youth small groups. In our
children’s program, groups are the basis for rich relating
and solid learning. You are encouraged to be in a group. We endeavour
to link you to the most appropriate group for you, where you can feel
at home and are able to relate well to others. If this is something
that interests you, but you don't know who to talk to, please come in
and visit us at the church office during the week or give us a call on
8396 0788.
