Lent : is about getting closer to God

40 Days of Lent - leading us into Easter
some people are taking on the challenge Roger has been talking to us about. The focus is on three things :

  1. Daily scripture reading and journalling of what God may be saying to you or what comes to your mind. If you don’t have a journal, and a reading plan they are available at the office or you can just use any writing paper you have, if you want to sign up Roger will email the reading to you on the previous day when & send you his journal notes.
  2. Eating well. There is a basic eating plan, if you don’t have one let Roger know. Remember the plan is only a guide, you do not have to follow exactly what is on it. The main point of the diet is to eat five times a day, Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Also to eat fruit and vegetables and some meat that is listed on the plan. Do not to eat things high in fat, whites breads, sugar, and things with caffeine in it. Also drinking about 2 litres of water a day would be a good thing.
  3. Daily exercise of about 30-45 minutes a day.

This is not a diet we are doing, but it about growing closer to God. Hopefully there will be other benefits but the goal is to become stronger spiritually. We will organize some times that we can get together for some exercise, probably walking up Antsey Hill.

Roger will email you everyday, if you need to talk to him about anything please give him a call or email him at roger.brook @ hopevalleyuc.org.au

I hope this will be a great time for you. And remember, no one is watching you or judging you, don’t feel any guilt if it doesn’t go to plan, this isn’t about feeling guilty if we fail, but about trying to come closer to God.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
